NAP Consistency: Keeping Your Shop Name, Address and Phone the Same Everywhere

"NAP" is short for Name, Address, Phone. Your shop is probably listed in many places: your website, Google Business Profile, Facebook, Yelp, Apple Maps, Bing Places, the BBB, parts-program directories, and local chamber sites. When those details don't match, customers can call an old number or drive to an old address.

Step 1: Decide your "official" version

Write down exactly how you want your details to appear, and use it everywhere:

Step 2: Find your listings

  1. Search Google for your shop name, your phone number, and your old phone number or old address if you've moved.
  2. Make a simple spreadsheet: site, link, what it shows, login (if you have one), fixed yes/no.

Step 3: Fix the important ones first

  1. Your Google Business Profile and your website.
  2. Apple Maps (Apple Business Connect), Bing Places, Facebook and Yelp.
  3. Then industry and local directories. Many let you claim the listing for free.

Step 4: Keep it consistent
