Adding Business Details for Google: LocalBusiness / AutoRepair Schema

"Schema" (also called structured data) is a small block of hidden code on your website that spells out your business details in a format search engines understand: name, address, phone, hours and so on. Schema.org has a specific type for repair shops called AutoRepair, which is a kind of LocalBusiness.

It doesn't replace your Google Business Profile, and adding it doesn't guarantee any special search display. But it helps Google read your details correctly.

Example (edit with your own details)

<script type="application/ld+json">
{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "AutoRepair",
  "name": "Smith's Auto Repair",
  "url": "https://www.example.com/",
  "telephone": "+1-555-123-4567",
  "address": {
    "@type": "PostalAddress",
    "streetAddress": "123 Main St",
    "addressLocality": "Springfield",
    "addressRegion": "IL",
    "postalCode": "62701",
    "addressCountry": "US"
  },
  "openingHoursSpecification": [
    { "@type": "OpeningHoursSpecification",
      "dayOfWeek": ["Monday","Tuesday","Wednesday","Thursday","Friday"],
      "opens": "08:00", "closes": "17:30" },
    { "@type": "OpeningHoursSpecification",
      "dayOfWeek": "Saturday", "opens": "08:00", "closes": "12:00" }
  ]
}
</script>

Steps

  1. Fill in your real details. They must match what's visible on your site and your Google Business Profile.
  2. Add it to your homepage. Many website builders and SEO plugins have a "local business" setting that creates this for you. Otherwise, your web person can paste it into the page's code.
  3. Test it with Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator.
  4. Update it whenever your hours or phone number change.
