Adding Hours and Holiday Hours to Your Website and Google Profile
Wrong hours are one of the most frustrating things for a customer: they drive over and find the door locked. Keeping hours right in every place people look is quick and builds trust.
1. Your Google Business Profile
- Sign in to your Business Profile and edit Hours to set your regular weekly schedule.
- Use Special hours for holidays, early closings, or days you're closed for training or inventory. Google's help page explains how to add these for specific dates.
- Add special hours before the holiday. A common habit: review them at the start of each month.
2. Your website
- Put hours in plain text (not an image) on your homepage, contact page and footer.
- Show the time zone if you serve customers across a border, and say clearly when you're closed ("Sunday: Closed").
- For holidays, add a short banner a week or two ahead: "Closed Thursday, Nov 26 for Thanksgiving." Remove it afterwards.
- If you have different hours for the office, the shop and towing, label each clearly.
3. Business details for Google (schema)
If your site has LocalBusiness / AutoRepair schema, its openingHoursSpecification should match your real hours. Update it whenever your hours change, or ask your web person to.
4. Everywhere else
Facebook, Yelp, Apple Maps, Bing Places and industry directories often show hours too. Keep a list of where your shop is listed and update them together. See keeping your name, address and phone consistent.
