Getting More Google Reviews and Showing Them on Your Shop Website
Reviews are one of the first things drivers check when choosing a shop. The best way to get more is simply to ask happy customers at the right moment, and to make it easy.
Make asking easy
- In your Google Business Profile, find your review link (Google's help explains where: look for the option to ask for reviews and the "link to share").
- Put it on your invoice, in your follow-up text or email, and on a small card or QR code at the counter.
- Ask in person when a customer is happy: "Would you mind leaving us a quick Google review? It really helps a small shop."
Stay within Google's rules
- Don't offer anything in exchange for reviews. Google's Maps content policy says reviews posted because of an incentive (payment, discounts, free goods or services) aren't allowed and will be removed.
- Don't ask only happy customers through a filter or write reviews for yourself, and don't have staff or family post them.
- Don't ask people to change or remove a negative review in exchange for something.
Reply to reviews
- Thank people for positive reviews, briefly and personally.
- For negative ones: stay calm, don't share private details, acknowledge the issue, and offer to talk offline ("Please call me directly at..."). Future customers read your replies as much as the review.
Show reviews on your website
- Quote two or three real reviews as plain text, with the customer's first name (with their permission or as publicly posted), and link to your Google reviews.
- Avoid heavy review widgets at the top of the homepage; they can slow the page.
