How to Find and Fix Broken Links on Your Shop Website

A broken link is a link that leads to an error page, usually "404 Not Found". They creep in when pages get renamed, coupons expire, or a partner site changes its address. Visitors who hit one may give up and call the next shop.

Finding them

  1. Run our free check on your homepage. It tests up to 25 links on the page and lists the ones that come back "not found".
  2. Click through your own menu on a phone and a computer: every menu item, the phone number, the "book appointment" button, social media icons and map link.
  3. Use Google Search Console (free). Its page indexing report lists pages Google tried to load and couldn't.

Fixing them

Prevent new ones

Re-check after every website change, and whenever you end a promotion. Weekly monitoring (coming soon) will do this for your whole site automatically.

Check your own site in seconds

Our free website check for auto repair shops looks at one page for broken links, Google basics, phone setup, HTTPS, image descriptions and business details for Google, and explains what it finds in plain English.
